Net-A-Porter uses augmented reality to launch Karl Lagerfeld collection
Net-A-Porter has celebrated the launch of its latest collection with Karl Lagerfeld by creating five augmented-reality enhanced events around the world.
The luxury online retailer took Lagerfeld on stage at Le Web last year to announce the partnership, and has now made the range available to buy alongside a range of interactive features on its site.
Zappos launches lifestyle magazine iPad app
Online footwear retailer Zappos has today launched an iPad app called Zappos Now, presented in the form of a digital lifestyle magazine.
It will be updated monthly, and allow users to shop directly from the app with free next business day shipping with no minimum order value.
Net-A-Porter confirms details for Karl Lagerfeld range
Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld opened the LeWeb conference in Paris this morning by confirming the details of his exclusive range with Net-A-Porter.
During the informal Q&A with LeWeb founder Loic Le Meur, Net-A-Porter's executive chairman Natalie Massenet revealed that the new ‘Karl’ range would be available to buy from January 25 2012.
People can visit net-a-porter.com to sign-up and receive more information in the coming weeks. Massenet said that the cross-channel marketing campaign will involve social media, mobile, augmented reality and a dedicated app.
Retailers and journalists: a match made in heaven?
Copy has always been important to online retailers. For obvious reasons, a well-written product description, for instance, is likely to produce more sales than the standard manufacturer's version.
But there's a new trend: online retailers going beyond product descriptions and building content-rich properties run in large part by folks from the publishing world.
Net-a-porter.com: iPad app review
Fashion etailer Net-a-porter released an app for the iPad last week, which is an interactive version of the magazine, with video content and links to purchase items direct from its pages.
It's an interesting alternative to simply providing a larger version of its mobile commerce app for the device, but how well does it work?

Mobile app review: Net-a-Porter for iPhone
Fashion etailer Net-a-Porter launched a mobile commerce app for the iPhone last week, allowing customers to browse and buy on the move.
The iPhone app displays what seems to be a limited range of stock, showcasing new arrivals and the retailer's magazine. I've been finding out how easy it is to browse and buy from the Net-a-Porter app.

Pureplay and high street fashion retailers - who values usability more?
With the continued growth of online shopping, and with new pureplay
retailers entering the market looking for new opportunities, I would
expect that the biggest players would be leading the way in terms of
customer experience.
With the upcoming Online Fashion 100 event in London that I'll be attending, I have taken a look at some of the biggest players in the fashion industry, both pureplay retailers and high street retailers.
I was particularly interested to look at key areas of their online customer experience to find out:
1) how well some of these brands are are delivering intelligent and meaningful cross-sell and up-sells to drive higher average order values, and...
2) which retailers are potentially losing sales due to a lack of focus on the full customer experience, right through to the end of the checkout process.
Site review: theOutnet.com
High end fashion retailer Net-A-Porter recently launched theOutnet.com, a clearance site which offers designer names at discounts of up to 80%.
Several retailers have been busy launching outlet sites this year; they offer a good way to offload out of season stock and, in the current economic circumstances, have the added effect of appealing to bargain hunters.

A bargain on theOutnet.com is more likely to mean paying £300 rather than £450 for a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, so it perhaps doesn't appeal the the same type of shoppers the Debenhams Outlet I reviewed recently, but how does Net-A-Porter's offering compare?
