Australia is leading the way globally when it comes to share of ad clicks from tablets and smartphones, according to recent research from Marin Software.
The Mobile Search Advertising Around The Globe report found that Australia has the highest penetration of click share from tablet devices (9.3%) and the third highest penetration of click share from smartphones (11.7%).
Similarly, Australian marketers spend the highest percentage of their budget (8%) per device on tablet advertising than any other market, and have the second highest allocation of budget put towards smartphones (8.8%).

Within the last hour Google has announced what is being described by many commentators as one of the most fundamental changes to Adwords in years.
The focus of the change is to enable advertisers to target people at the right time, in the right place, with the right advert and call-to-action. Effectively, the structuring of Adwords campaigns is becoming device independent, removing the ability to have specific mobile, tablet or desktop targeted campaigns.
This is a hugely important update - and mindset change - for any advertiser who is investing in PPC.

Widely heralded as a victory for Google, the recent outcome of the American Federal Trade Commission’s exhaustive 19-month investigation into allegations of anti-competitive practices nevertheless contains at least one point that should have some (minor but beneficial) impact on the PPC marketplace in the near future.

It proved to be a fruitful Christmas for John Lewis, with like-for-like sales up 13% in the five weeks to December 29 compared to the same period in 2011.
And the news from its ecommerce store was even more impressive. Online sales grew almost three-times faster at 44.3% and now account for a quarter of all group sales.
In fact it reached more than £800m in annual sales through Johnlewis.com in December.

YouTube is the most social of Google’s channels. `if you’re targeting niche markets, it can work well to drive targeted traffic to your site, for fairly low cost.
So much has changed on YouTube in recent months that it’s really worth another look for PPC.
It's also fairly straightforward: the hardest part is creating the video. Even that can be simpler than you think. You don’t always need a professional videographer, or a huge budget.
If you choose the right format and targeting method, simple things like customer testimonials, information and instruction videos can work really well.
