MENA Stats: Social media and sharing trends

Multichannel boosts email: new report

It's an exciting time for the email marketing industry, and no matter what Mark Zuckerberg says, the end is certainly not nigh, according to new research published this week from Econsultancy.

According to Econsultancy's 2012 Email Marketing Platforms Buyer's Guide, the UK email marketing industry grew by an estimated 15.5% last year to a value of £388 million by the end of 2011. 

The research highlights that the rise of cross-channel marketing is helping to fuel growth in the email marketing industry. Rather than operating in its own silo, email is now seen as an essential component of a wider campaign. Thanks to the rise of mobile, email is now everywhere, accessible anywhere, at any time and at any location.

Learn from FedEx and turn a social media 'fail' into a huge win

If you’re reading this, you’re most likely a marketer - and you’ve probably seen FedEx’s addition to the ‘super fail’ hall of fame from late last year.

If not, click through to watch the video clip uploaded to YouTube in December by an unhappy customer.

In it, a FedEx ‘guy’ is clearly seen throwing a new computer monitor over the gate of the man who ordered it. He returned home, wondered why it was broken and uploaded a security video of the incident. Then all hell broke loose.

88% of US businesses are now actively monitoring online feedback and conversations online, according to a Forrester Consulting survey released today.

However, the Dell-commissioned report also found that only 6% of companies consider listening and digital engagement to be integral to their organisations.
