Podcast directory Pluggd raises $1.65m

Pluggd, a Seattle based startup, has raised $1.65m in funding from Intel and angel investors to help it start distributing its technology.

Pluggd is a podcast directory, but what makes it special is its ‘HearHere’ technology, which allows users to search within audio internet programming to find the segments they want.

Google begins radio ad trials

Google has continued its push into traditional media with a beta launch of its radio advertising system in the US.

The search giant said it had begun testing the Audio Ads service with 20 AdWords customers and over 700 radio stations, having reworked the technology of dMarc Broadcasting, the radio advertising company it bought almost a year ago.

Channel 4 launches online VOD service

Channel 4 has today launched its online video on demand service, offering a wide range of programming for download up to 30 days after broadcast.

The line up of programmes on 4oD is impressive, with 128 TV shows available to download, from recent series like Shameless to classic episodes of Father Ted.

Films, including the magnificent Withnail And I, are also available, with more planned...

England beats Australia - at Stick Cricket

Online readers of News Corp's leading media outlets in Australia and the UK- FOXSPORTS.com.au and The Sun - have been pitched against one another in a competition to win the inaugural StickCricket.com Ashes contest.

It seems that England’s cricket fans are doing a lot better than Flintoff and his team. While the real team froze when facing Shane Warne, their Stick Cricket counterparts managed to win the second StickCricket test, levelling the series at 1-1.

Reevoo seeks first round funding to expand

Social shopping start-up Reevoo is in the process of securing Series-A funding to help it expand internationally and into new vertical sectors.

The London-based company, which provides ‘real-world’ reviews to technology etailers such as Comet and Jessops, has recruited First Capital to advise it on the new financing round.

BSkyB cuts a deal with Google

BSkyB has announced that it will work with Google in a deal which will help it develop its broadband products and services.

Initially, Google will provide a version of Google Mail using the @sky.com domain name, as well as a video-sharing service which will use Google’s video content tools.

Yahoo! has announced a major re-organisation of its management in a bid to simplify its structure and take on Google.

After the company’s dissapointing performance this year, as well as the leaked ‘peanut butter’ memo last month, the news doesn't come as a big shock. But many in the blogosphere are surprised that under-fire CEO Terry Semel has retained his position.

Google drops case against click-fraudster

Google has allowed a case against a click-fraudster to be dismissed, amid speculation that the search engine giant was reluctant to open up its click fraud procedures for public scrutiny.

The charges against Michael Anthony Bradley, who attempted to extort $150,000 from the company by threatening to generate millions of false clicks through his 'Google Clique' software, were dropped on November 22.
