I'm in Atlanta, Georgia at Silverpop's Customer Conference. One of the hot topics here has been yesterday's announcement by the FTC that it is changing the rules in the US around unsubscribing.
Essentially you need to ensure that your reader can kiss you off with a single click, and without having to enter more than an email address.

The Wall Street Journal carried an article last week about the problems consumer electronics etailers are having with returns.
Only 5% of returns were due to defective products and etailers spent $13.8m (£7bn) reselling returned products, so how best to deal with what is clearly a major issue?

US-based consumer electronics retailer Dyscern is a great case study of how to make serious money on online marketplaces like eBay.
The company, which started up only five years ago, is now sixth in Inc. Magazine’s list of America's fastest growing retailers and is reportedly the most rapidly expanding eBay Powerseller on the other side of the pond.
We spoke to Dyscern COO Bill Frischling about the pros and cons of eBay as an e-commerce channel for merchants, and how the firm is looking to ramp up its European sales.

another huge pile of cash to its bank account, this time in the form of a $100m debt financing from TriplePoint Capital.
The company, which has already raised more than $350m in equity financing from investors such as Microsoft and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing, says that the money will be used "entirely for servers."

One of the most common responses tech savvy people make when they find out my job is to get websites higher up the search engine rankings is "Oh, so you have a big network of sites and link use them to promote clients sites".

Believe it or not, there once was a time when Google still had to convince large advertisers that online marketing (and more specifically search engine marketing) was a very cost-effective channel to acquire customers.
Initially Google provided discount to advertising agencies to encourage the adoption of its Adwords platform but in 2006, since this model wasn’t really fair towards other advertisers, Google replaced it with the Best Practice Funding (BPF) Programme.
