Allan Barr is a Board Director and Head of Digital & Social Media for The BIG Partnership, which industry bible PR Week ranks as the largest communications agency in the UK outside London.
Over the last 11 years, Allan has been responsible for delivering successful communications strategies for some of the world’s largest organisations.
A graduate of the University of Strathclyde’s Business School, Allan also holds a Masters in Information Technology & Global Commerce. He started his career working within marketing and communications for a number high-growth IT companies, before moving onto roles with two of the world’s four largest professional services firms.
Following two years within PR and marketing for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Allan joined rival global professional services firm KPMG in 2004 where he had overall responsibility for the firm’s communication strategy in Scotland.
Since joining BIG in May 2007, Allan has had responsibility for developing and delivering successful communications strategies for a range of high profile clients, including: NHS; Clydesdale Bank; Famous Grouse, KPMG; Standard Life; Glasgow 2014 and The Scottish Government.
In addition to sitting on the board, Allan now leads BIG’s digital division and focuses his time on advising the agency’s clients from across the public and private sector on how they can adopt social media into the way they interact and communicate with their customers.
Today Allan is recognised as one of Scotland’s leading authorities on social media, and regularly speaks on the subject at conferences, industry events and in the press.
