Ben is the Head of Corporate Marketing in Singapore Management University (SMU). In this role, he leads the overall marketing function, including brand management, product marketing, retail marketing, customer research and engagement. He spearheaded The SMU Shop, which captivated many hearts - including those outside of the SMU community. At the same time, he also championed the rejuvenation of the University's web portal, making it a first-of-its-kind in the region to have a fully engaging and responsive design. Ben constantly exceeded expectations and even triumphed several awards for the University, including the latest Marketing Magazine’s Excellence in Advertising, and Integrated Marketing Awards. He kickstarted his career as a creative designer in his own design firm for 6 years, before moving onward to the advertising industry to become a ‘suit’. Prior to joining SMU, he was Regional Account Director at Y&R, gaining over a decade of extensive advertising experience working on top local and international brands such as OCBC, M1, LG, Mitsubishi, Sony and Canon. His 360° career gave him a deep and broad perspective, ranging across production (creative) to advertising (selling) to marketing (buying), and equipping him with an invaluable skill set that cuts across the entire marketing communications spectrum.
