LastMile Communications Ltd. of the UK has developed a seamless data optimised, wireless, communications and content delivery system. It is designed to provide ubiquitous, roving broadband wireless coverage across, cities, towns, villages and major transport routes that will breakeven in months, not years. The key is marrying cached RAM and flash memory at the physical edge of the network (closest to the end user) with a radio transceiver. Local enterprises can advertise their products and services in the immediate vicinity without Google. Users can also remotely access that local information from anywhere in the world. The local internet is delivered globally and the global internet is delivered into the users hand. Users will be able to interact with information or adverts via their WiFi mobile or static device allowing enterprises and organisations to capture the opportunity at the very moment of interest. This is the advantage over existing metropolitan WiFi networks, as advertisers pay for deployment, users have significantly improved free (or low cost), continual, roving high capacity, secure internet connectivity with fully interactive services. This is a new aggregated content delivery system for all media distribution to end users in all environments. This new “requested local advertising based” or “permission based advertising” business model can pay for digital city deployment in months, not years.
