I have over 20 years sales and marketing experience working with businesses of all shapes and sizes on digital communication strategies, integrations and implementations. As the Virtual Marketeer, I work companies of all sizes. I assess their business and current situation before proposing a plan of action that fits their needs and budget. Optimising current programmes as well as developing new ones, my remit is to help my clients increase brand awareness, optimise marketing performance and increase revenue. I work either as a mentor or as an outsourced marketing resource.
A graduate of Computer Science, I was more interested in how technology changes our lives and the way we interact with brands than writing code. I started my career with a computer training company and was instrumental in their launch of a web design division as tech savvy businesses realised this new marketing opportunity. This interest in marketing and technology led me to pursue a career focused around digital marketing. I began working with Jupiter Research (now part of Forrester) and later joined IDC helping businesses understand how this new phenomenon known as the Internet was going to change the way they did business for ever! Working with Dot Coms, music companies, travel businesses and retailers in the Internet Boom era was a truly unforgettable experience. I have a strong belief in the value of research to understand market and trends but also a know that it can't always predict human nature.
I went on to work for a digital marketing agency (now part of Golley Slater) developing new business and managing clients online marketing activities. Again my work crossed a number of different sectors with clients such as Business Link, Cadbury, Debenhams and Avon as well as number of smaller businesses. I spent sometime following this working as a consultant with a number of local businesses included a corporate finance company and digital publisher.
In 2006 I joined Silverpop Systems Inc as they launched in Europe and went on to become their European Account Director and eMarketing Consultant helping clients optimise their email marketing programs and integrate them effectively with other marketing activities. This role included teaching on an IDM Course and presenting at Internet World. Again, I worked with a huge range of clients , notably BSkyB, BMI Baby, Virgin Holidays and the RSPCA.
In 2009 and I took a career break to have my 2 children, undertaking a number of adhoc consulting projects to fit in with my role a mum. As well as being the amazing experience everyone knows motherhood is, I have benefited from new insights through a change in lifestyle.
As the Virtual Marketeer, I offer a flexible service for clients looking for marketing solutions to suit them. Like many working mums, I wanted something that I can fit in with my family life as well. I provide a great service to clients looking for a hard working, honest and experienced professional without the commitment of a full time employee.
