Julie has 10+ years International digital transformation, social business and business model innovation experience working in multiple industries with multi-discipline teams including software, advertising, customer insight, publishing, retail banking, health & fitness, education, translation services, veterinary services and social media monitoring organisations. Plus an additional 10 years working in various roles within the software industry in Europe and Asia Pacific, where she setup the Greater China and ASEAN operations for a US software company. Julie is passionate about the tremendous opportunities for new and established business offered by new digital and social technologies and has been the driving force in a number of innovation and transformation projects; led an online community based loyalty program startup in 2001-03, enrolled on a Masters in Strategic Markrting Management to research and wrote a dissertation "online communities: why do consumers participate? why should marketers care?" in 2003-04. Julie has worked with at VP/Director level on strategic business development projects and innovation initiatives for both SME's and large multinational businesses including, Alterian, Ogilvy, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Lexis Nexis and a range of SMEs in the UK, US and Hong Kong.

Consultant at Online Travel
From April 1, 2011 until July 1, 2011.

Developed a new business social commerce business proposition and outline 12 month implementation plan for an online travel company, combining their existing e-commerce travel booking business with a hosted customer travel community and new revenue generating destination travel guides & services & identified potential social, mobile & insight suppliers.

Business Strategy Consultant at Social Media Monitoring & Insights Company
From July 1, 2010 until March 1, 2011.

Developed social media sales & marketing strategy, identified new business propositions through integrating resource & technology assets from 2 recent social media acquisitions, Social Media Monitoring and Social Insight Strategy Consultants. Q4 2010 developed and sold first pilot for a new social insights and website content strategy proposition for an FMCG consumer segment destination website combining social media monitoring, market research, digital ethnography and semiotic analysis of website content to create an insight program to deliver a customer focused website content strategy.

Developed and facilitated an internal social media strategy workshop, bringing together individuals from various business units within the bank. Founded a social business café in SW London to introduce social media, tools and strategies to local businesses and test social channels for lead generation and business development. Over 9 months, ran 8 local cafes with 12 – 30 attendees, developed a partnership with JWT, global ad agency, 2 JWT cafés had 50 and 30 attendees. Kukutana founded with no cash budget, maximised the use of free social tools to attract and engage audiences and organise offline events.

Founded UWEZA, Swahili for ability, energy, capability and competence, a revenue generating white label online and mobile health service, which provides an online and mobile wellness and fitness platform to support individual’s health goals, connect wellness professionals on a private social network, access to a digital media vault and knowledge hub, nutrition and fitness training tools and customer insight platform. Setup, designed and implemented the UWEZA website to articulate the health, fitness and wellbeing white label business proposition. Working with a cameraman and personal trainer, produced 42 fitness videos for PC, MAC, iPod, iphone, mobile phones and digital photo frames. Setup the Twitter and Vimeo social media channels.
