About Me
Paul Walsh is the co-founder and CEO of Segala, a worldwide leader in web accessibility and verified mobile content Trustmarks and certification services.
Segala was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 2001. Paul is responsible for setting the company's strategic goals and direction as well as managing the day to day activities. Since 2004 Paul has grown the company to become a major independent certifier of web and mobile-based content and provider of Trustmarks.
Paul is hugely experienced in the fields of web and mobile web accessibility and conformance certification. He is a representative on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Advisory Committee and a key member of the Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) Steering Council. Paul regularly contributes to W3C best practices and guidelines.
He is also Chair of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) - a trading association for the Interactive industry and Chair of the BIMA/Revolution Awards 2006. Paul is an experienced public speaker on accessibility and enabling Trust on the internet based on content certification and is in demand at conferences and seminars around the world.
Prior to founding Segala, Paul worked with a number of major mobile companies such as Vodafone, Orange, ADC Metrica, CMG and others. His roles spanned strategy realignment and auditing through to initiating radical cultural change. Before joining the mobile industry, Paul was an executive at Eqos, a pioneer in the development of Web technologies for B2B Supplier Management. In 1995 he became one of the first employees for AOL in Europe where he was a key member of the team that developed AOL's presence in the UK and assisting with the launch of other AOL Europe territories.
