About Me
I grew into online marketing on the back of a 7 year career in traditional Direct Marketing, first with Longman, then Claritas.
I started working on online customer acquisition with Claritas in 1999, and then moved into email marketing at e2 Communications and Frontwire, providing campaigns and consultancy for clients such as Debenhams, EMAP, Argos and Direct Wines. I also steered the development of Frontwire's email management tools, bringing offline DM practices and metrics into the fledgling industry.
During 2002-2003 I managed Frontwire's delivery team providing highly targeted campaigns across multiple media with a focus on customer retention, and ROI. I created and delivered some of the first commercially successful video email campaigns, and de-bunked the myth of clickthroughs as a useful performance metric in email marketing.
After 6 Months at Screen Pages, managing several B2C e-commerce businesses I set up Shine Marketing to deliver accountable digital marketing campaigns to B2C clients.
