Hi - could anyone point me in the right direction to the answer to this rather tricky question?
Estimate:
How many e-commerce sites are in the following annual online (only) revenue bands:
£0-1m
£2m-5m
£6-10m
£11-50m
£51m+
I understand that noone is likely to just know that and put it here - but contact me and we can see what we can do about a suitable remuneration.
Also - does anyone know anything about gross profit margins (averages) in different e-commerce sectors?
I know I'm asking a lot - but there you go - if you don't ask you don't get (well, normally - sometimes you get without asking - which is even nicer).

Hi Simon
Which country/countries are you after? And when you say 'e-commerce sites' do you mean retailers or would you include any site selling anything (e.g. travel?)? And I assume you're excluding web-driven offline sales?
All of which is to hint that the question is almost certainly unanswerable ;)
Have you tried asking the IMRG?
The other thing you could do is to assume an average order value/sales value + an average conversion rate per visit by category and then just use someone like Hitwise to rank sites by traffic (in whatever sector(s) you want) to compute a listing of e-commerce revenue by site. Crude but will at least get you something.
And the good news... you guys own Hitwise!
