    Hello,

I am new in Affiliate Marketing and obviuosly have some doubts.

I would like to start working with an affiliate network specialized in fashion and retail. We would like to receive some information on which are the best.

I have asked for information to several networks as well as prices. Some of them have sent me as price a start up payment, and a comission or a payment for the sales. But others ask also for a payment for the service. They give me two prices one if I outsource the day to day to them completely to them and another (more cheaper) if they we manage the the day to day from our company. Is this normal? There is a lot of difference between one price and the other.

And finally, if we decide to make the day to day activity by ourselves, do we need any specifial formation? I am planning to attend one of the Affiliate seminars that econsultancy offers. Would that be enough?

I would appreciate very much an answer on all theses issues.

    Thank you,

    Hi Monica

I run the e-consultancy seminars on Affiliate Marketing and they will give you a very good grounding in how to run your affiliate programme. It is really not that difficult to run the programme yourself on a day to day basis IF you have the time to do it.

You may though still want the network and/or a third party affiliate management company to handle the recruitment and retention of affiliates for you.

If I can be of more help, please feel free to contact me off list or via e-consultancy.

    Hi Monica,

I'd definitely have a look at one of Keith's seminars, he definitely knows what he's talking about and has a lot of experience to draw on.

My experience is that the quality of support given by networks to smaller merchants is often very poor, which is why we started providing affiliate programme management services to SME businesses in the retail & travel sectors.

I ran a number of affiliate programmes myself before starting Shine Marketing and agree with Keith that it's terribly complicated, but there's a lot of legwork involved where we can definitely help out.

Drop me a note or visit our website if you'd like to find out more about how we can help.

    Best of  luck with it.

    Hi Monica,

I represent dgmAffiliates, one of the largest and most established affiliate networks in the UK.  We recently became the exclusive network for JD Williams' affiliate marketing program and also run affiliate campaigns for M&M Sports as well as Gray & Osborne.  We have a well established presence in the online fashion sector.

With regards to pricing, networks all have different commercial models, however there is generally a set-up fee, override (% of affiliate commissions payable to the network) and some type of management or AM fee.

Depending on the size of the program, dgmAffiliates offers either a self managed or fully account managed solution.  With a Self Managed solution you are given all the tools and support to run the program yourself whilst the program sill receives the full support from our affiliate team.

Which solution we recommend depends largely on the size of the program, how affiliates will fit in with additional online activity and your overall business requirements.

I would be more than happy to discuss this with you in further detail and my contact details are listed below if you would like to get in touch.

    Best regards,
    Garth
