Looking at the news last week about the Google breadcrumb trail showing up in certain search results, how do SEO and Internet marketing agencies feel about the inclusion of breadcrumbs in the SERPs?

How may this affect site architecture and your control as an SEO company over website design if breadcrumb trails became the norm in search results?

Do you feel that sites which perform well for organic search terms could be hindered if they are poorly architected? How important could breadcrumbs be in performance in the rankings or is it just an experiment that will fade away?

Lindsey, yes strong organic traffic sites can always be hindered if they are poorly architected, but this can be fixable but often they choose to leave it.

Google has already been showin "site links" and i think that this test does actually make the results look better and easier to read.  But it will have an effect on will likely increase the CTR if the user has the choice between two results, one with breadcrumbs and one without...

Matt, i would say they are trying to push websites to use the canonical url so we tell it which to show, but its a fair point as some older cms systems seem to be more difficult to use canonical urls...
