    Hi,

Last year Google apparently decided that Jersey and the Channel Islands are not part of the UK, (technically true but for trade purposes they are considered within UK).

Now, Jersey based .coms identified from "whois" and hosting locations, are not appearing in google.co.UK serps. Has anyone else experienced this? I am not particularly technical but would appreciate any feedback, help, to find out if there is, or create, a best practice for this situation.

    Many thanks

    GF

hi, Gerard, have you tried identifying your site as being in the UK using google's webmaster tools?

A bit more info here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=62399

I once worked on a .com, hosted outside the uk, that (eventually) managed to get indexed in 'pages from the UK'. Here were the factors that may have solved it:

    1. Geotargeting with Webmaster tools.
    2. Pestering our adwords account manager, who kindly said that he was passing the info along internally.
    3. Used a uk.domainname.com subdomain.
    4. Placed the UK address in the footer of every page.

Good luck - I'd love to hear if you manage it.
