Following last year's report by the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee on Personal Internet Security and the subsequent disagreement by the government that the public's perception of the internet is a lawless "wild west", a second report was produced:

    Personal Internet Security: Follow-up, 8th July 2008
    http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200708/ldselect/ldsctech/131/131.pdf

It is worth reading, especially the impact it may have on:

    • software vendor liability (potentially website liability)
    • protection of personal data
    • consumer protection
    • security breach notification law
    • reporting of online fraud

These could affect most organisations, but do touch on many things that diligent organisations should already be concerned about.

    Be prepared.
