Anyone here working on Best Practices re enterprise social networking (ESN) - i.e., social media inside the firewall? This is an area I'm actively engaged with and interested in connecting up with my peers in the UK and globally (esp via LinkedIn and Twitter). If there are practitioners here in this space please connect with me - my Twitter profile is @theparallaxview and on LinkedIn I can be found at http://www.linkedin.com/in/pearsonrussell I also blog on intranet social media related items, such as this post on what we might finally call it! http://theparallaxview.com/2009/01/call-intranet-social-media/ Please feel free to join in the discussion.

Hi Russell,
Econsultancy currently has a Best-Practice Guide for social media in the pipeline... Although we're focusing mainly upon b2c interactions, I image we'll touch upon social media being used internally by companies - I assume this is what you're driving at here?

Hi Aaron
In a word both. One aspect I enjoy most about the whole area, is the level of information and support that is shared by those working with ESN. I'm looking to help other people by providing consultancy on best practice deployment of Enterprise Social Networking and I'm also interested in networking with those already working in the field. ESN and E2.0 are all about collaboration and teamwork and I like to think that this also extends to how we operate as practioners in this sphere.

Yes, I like Huddle's product. Last time I looked at it it was mostly geared around the project collaboration side - knowledge management and team innovation. Not sure if technically possible but APIs to connect it up to more web 2.0 app such as enterprise forums and tagging would be realy useful. Thanks for the reminder about them tho, going to get in touch with them again and have a fresh look at their demo.

Hi Jake
That sounds interesting. And yes, my area is all the social media tools used as productivity enablers by employees. Deolitte call it 'ESN' http://www.deloitte.co.uk/TMTPredictions/technology/Social-networks-in-the-enterprise.cfm
