Tracy,
A good web channel preformance management/web analytics solution will enable you to manage not just the costs of the campaign but also the end result so you can identify which elements and executions delivered the best performance in terms of customer/visitor acquisition, sales and profitability.
Take a look at the presentations of the vendors at the netimperative Beauty Parade which took place last week. The presentations are available to download from http://www.netimperative.com/pdf/webanalyticsBPProgramme.pdf

Hi Tracy,
Depends on who you are and what you're objectives are...by who you are I mean size and type of your web property, number on monthly unique users, impresions etc? Are you looking to sell advertising yourself or work with a sales agent/house?
Whatever you want in the UK there are two independent companies offering technology and support services for this technology - I run the European arm of one of them (www.trafficmac.com) and the other is my competitor www.trafficmaid.com - contact details on website.
If you'd like a chat about what you're thinking about I can be contacted on 0207 903 5288.
Good Luck
Andrew

Hi Tracy
Have you received a satisfactory answer to your question yet? I don't think so... In part 'cause you DO need to be more specific in what it is you're really trying to achieve.
I have one of my clients using both Valueclick's MOJO ad server AND their MOJO ad publisher (hey, I didn't name them, just use them), the former for serving ads and tracking clicks and ROI back on TO their site and the latter for serving ads ON their site. Different sides of the equation with different needs, hence different tech. But for a cheap and easy web analytics solution, the ROI tags for the MOJO ad server do really do the trick!
I've also used the ads php for serving on another client's site, but it's quite a bit more work. The code may be free but your time isn't.
Cheers
Alex
