    Hi All

I am looking at setting up a blog and wondered what the best practice is. Do I use standard free software or can I buy software that sits on the server.

If you go for the free software can you link this into your site easily so you get all of the seo beneifts etc.

    Thanks

    Jason

    hi, Jason, how are you?

I always use wordpress. you can use a hosted version (wordpress.com), or put it on the server yourself (download it at wordpress.org). Many hosts offer a 'one click install' of wordpress (for example, dreamhost.com).

Wordpress is open source. There are thousands of people producing themes & add-ons focussed on SEO.

    hope that helps!

I'd recommend typepad.co.uk. For £75 a year gets you a very good system and lots of very helpful support.

I went for it because other people in my business who don't really 'do' technology can use it without asking me anything.  Now that's what I call money well spent. Plus if you're working across Europe, they work in various languages too.

    Cheers

Have you considered Wordpress? There's a HUGE community and best of all, it's FREE. Also, easy to use - even for a non-techie like me :-)
