Not sure whether anyone can help me on this.
I am trying to get an overview of where the big brand advertisers (the likes of COI, BT, O2, Sky, DSGI, etc) spend their ex-display online marketing budgets. Now, AC Nielsen provide a reasonable breakdown of this for advertising, including online (display only though), but this does not cover the full mix of online marketing activity (e.g. affiliate, email, search, online market research, SEO advisory, web hosting, design, tech platforms, etc).
I suspect that this may be impossible to get exactly, but do you know of any best sources of this data?
I could use Nielsen's online advertising figures as a proxy, but that would be very imprecise given skew of travel, retail, telecoms sectors, etc into affiliate, email and search for example.
The Online Advertising Survey Report, produced in association with the Rubicon Project, is a useful overview of the online display advertising environment. It contains information about spending trends, the use of ad networks, types of targeting and use of data. The research also examines the impact of real-time bidding and the increasingly important role played by online advertising exchanges, demand-side platforms (DSPs) and trading desks.
