I have a coworker whose husband will be working in New York for a year. We have a handful of clients there as well, so we're working out how she can go as well and serve those accounts. Does anyone work abroad in the US or elsewhere? I'm trying to get an idea of what it takes.

There's no shortage of channels to stay in touch with. Depending on the line of work, working remotely or virtually is more common. If this employee interacts directly with clients, the connection between them should be kept simply, or things can go badly. Virtual phone systems like Gotvmail can pool remote employees as extensions under your business number. That keeps the interaction consistent, even if locations change.
