We've gained really positive feedback from clients looking to outsource the management of content on their website.
As well as eliminating the employment costs of full time editorial staff, our value is in our ability to provide accessible, targeted and accurate content 24/7 - on a regular or ad hoc basis.
But I think we could do more.
I'd like to ask the board - what would you look for in a content management agency?
indeed, take a step back: would you outsource your content production / management to an external agency in the first place ? If not, why not? What would change your mind? Is it just cost, or is it handing over production to an external organisation? Any other barriers?

References, references, references. In that order.
Oh and I mean references that you go and find yourself, dont ask the vendor to give you references. Thats just pointless.

So - assuming we fill our initial sales emails / letters with testemonials, case studies and genuinely positive feedback we've had from clients, and readers of a client's content - we'll get lots of business?
I'd have said a) cost and b) a lack of understanding on what good content can deliver were the main barriers to taking up web content and copywriting services.
If all clients feel this way, we should be in good shape.

The simple answer is no, i do not see this as a valid business model. The point of effective content management is to delegate ownership of creation / management of content to business unit experts (away from IT)... not outsource to a 3rd party
