Can anyone provide any decent resources to research e-strategy amongst some of the leading retailers, in particular C & T retailers. I'm looking for 'best in class' examples to help me form a brief and framework. Many Thanks

Hi there,
I don't know of any specific resources that will help you, there are analysts like Forrester that do e-business reports on differing sectors, so you could try them.
We run something called the Internet Marketing Advisory Board and are about to launch a free benchmarking study amongst members to analyse e-strategy across a huge range of blue chip companies from diverse market sectors..I can check to see if there are any C & T reatilers likely to take part if that would help you?
In addition, we have conducted bespoke benchmarking studies for clients to address their specific research goals and markets - I can send some details for you if this sounds appropriate.
Best regards, Ben Ladkin.

Hi Adam, There are a few reports available, including one on this site (Retail Online – Top Issues, Trends, Resources, 2003), although they tend to be Retail general, as opposed to focussed on Cosmetics & Toiletries. However, people like Mintel have more specific reports (Toiletries and Cosmetics Retailing - UK - May 2000), Datamonitor (The Interactive Consumer - Aug 2001). If you are after something specific, these guys will create specific reports for you too.
We have worked with a number of clients on helping them to define their E-strategies, including Burhmann and have helped companies translate their brand experience online.

Hi Adam
The IMRG has a report that includes health and beauty, and I believe TBS is a member. As previously mentioned Mintel has relevant reports and Euromonitor has "Cosmetics and Toiletries and the Internet" (July 2002).
This is something I have looked at a lot, given our experience in this sector (original Body Shop site, Avon online shop, Perfuma.com). You won't be surprised to hear, of course, that Boots is the leader in the sector in the UK in terms of site popularity (Hitwise). They have, of course, recently moved away from the Wellbeing brand due to numerous factors.
Hope this is of some use
Robin
