2012: Email in Action
Consumers are changing the way they use digital media, and email marketers are adjusting their strategies accordingly. This study, Email in Action, was produced by Econsultancy and the Email Experience Council of the Direct Marketing Association, and drew input from over 450 marketing organizations and agencies in North America with an email focus. It examines the big changes, reveals current adaptive practices, and explores the creative ways in which email marketers are responding to new challenges.

The Online Lead Generation Report (B2C), produced in association with lead generation specialist Clash-Media, provides a detailed overview of how companies are using the internet to generate leads for their consumer-focused businesses. Hi I am interested in running email marketing campaigns for clients but have always steered clear of this due to negative feedback and beeing branded as a spammer. What is a good example of how to start an email campaign that will not offend people or fall foul of spam filters. Are there any examples you can give.

The source of email is important, you can not buy a random list or you will be a spammer. Use a system to manage your list, obtain e-mails only with premission and from internal sources. Check out one of my websites at http://www.emailsyndicator.com to learn more. If you look at renting a list, you may find search engine marketing has a lower cpa.

Also take a look at http://www.emaillabs.com/ which is full of useful articles. I suggest building your own customer list.
Its my view that Email is not effective at lead generation but very effective at customer development.

Dead right Jim. If you use email marketing from lists for customer acquisition you could cause problems - retention and development, perfect for email marketing.

Is List Building Really Working for You?
YES - Lists are a part of online marketing, but.....
BOTTOM LINE - ARE YOU MAKING ANY MONEY....
What if we actually helped people by solving their problem?
Maybe if we all took more time to actually build a relationship with people,
and help them solve THEIR problem our lists would actually work better for us.
Hope this helps a little.

Thats great advice thankyou, I am still very wary of this and wonder if the negative feedback outways the potential benefit. I think to be safe I will start with a letter to people who have enquired on clients site. Do you think this is correct place to start?
