E-marketing Essentials are 5 'must read' articles from the previous month for digital marketers.
They are sent to delegates to Dave Chaffey's E-marketing workshops who have opted-in to receive them. I have agreed with Ashley Friedlein of E-consultancy that I will post them here also in the hope that they may be useful for forum members who haven't seen these articles or news items.
1. Sleep tomorrow.
-----------------
NMA reported possibly the biggest online campaign in Europe to support its new K500i multimedia camera phone.
Read the article and view the site to see how online/offline marketing with data capture and a viral affect have been combined.

2. Problems displaying e-mails in different readers
---------------------------------------------------
This is still a big problem according to this article which focuses on practical tips to make sure your e-mails are read in the big 5 readers.
"Research showing that around half of the emails received from leading consumer-facing organisations in the UK will not display."
This briefing shows you how to ensure your email renders correctly in Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Lotus Notes and AOL.

3. How can Six Sigma Help Marketers?
------------------------------------
Sam Decker is Senior Manager, Dell Computer, Consumer eBusiness / CRM / Strategic Planning.
His blog shows his thoughts and experiences while running the E-commerce site at Dell.com.
If you manage an E-commerce team, I recommend a visit for his clarity and vision on explaining Six Sigma from a marketing planning perspective plus other musings on usability and metrics.

4. The Online ad surge?
-----------------------
Great article from Business Week showing how large scale interactive ad campaigns from brands such as Ford are reaching 50 million users, driving visitors (3,000 per second) and delivering sales (a 6% increase according to Ford).
The article also looks at latest developments in ad formats such as video in US.
But will it convince the sceptics?

5. Affiliate marketing
----------------------
My most recent CIM WNIM article is a basic primer on affiliate marketing for retailers who aren't actively involved in this area yet.
