My client, an SME with a traditional paper-based DM history, are looking to step up their online activity, and require an email broadcast solution. Their technology partner will have a comprehensive solution able to fully integrate with their back-office software in the next few months, so a 'stop gap' solution is needed. Currently being considered are Gammadyne, EMill and Anocnia Rocket Sales...anyone have experience of these products, or can suggest alternatives?

I've been using Valueclick's MOJO email for my clients. ASP-hosted solution, reasonable CPM broadcast rates, easy enough to use--and you can track from open to purchase to re-purchase etc. Drop me a note if you weant to chat about it.

As well as those in the E-consultancy buyers guide and the US tools mentioned, there are some lower-cost solutions more appropriate to SMEs, some of which have local, european support. Some are ASP model - you upload list and creative and broadcast or some you can install on own server/desktop or both.

    You could evaluate:
    http://www.emailcenteruk.com
    http://www.inxmail.co.uk
    http://www.jangomail.com
    http://www.emailtools.co.uk
    http://www.mailworkz.com/

    etc

As well as cost I would watch for tracking and message tailoring capabilities.

Take a look at Extravision. They're a friendly UK company who offer 3 main services - a complete managed service, web portal and list building. If you want to be a partner/reseller, they offer a white label solution for you to sell on to your client. They are used by IBM, Mercedes, Reuters, Fujitsu, Vistorm...and me! Their personalisation and reporting capabilities are excellent and you can preview each message before sending it out.

I use the open source PHPlist with my clients (www.phplist.com), which is quite a fully featured ASP model solution. You could install it for the client (involves a fair amount of technical know-how) or contact me and we can discuss using it from our servers...

We use a company called Blue Hornet based in the States - www.bluehornet.com. It's an ASP-hosted product and provides an excellent sending and tracking system.
