Hi Zoe,
There is a report on this site that covers some of the names above.
http://www.e-consultancy.com/publications/email-marketing-briefing-october-2006/
I'd also take a look at pure360.com they are reasonably priced and easy to work with.
Cheers,
Andy.

Hi Zoe,
I have a copy of the Jupiter Research Email Marketing Buyers Guide which evaluates the top companies in the space and will give you a great starting point on the strengths and weaknesses of various vendors. I'm more then happy to send this to you if you would like? Please email me at and I will forward it to you this morning.
Kind Regards

Hi Zoe,
Are you an agency or inhouse? All have their strengths and weakess according to your needs. You need to take into account email masking, whitelisting capabilities and price. Pure at www.pure360.com come highly recommended and are used by large brands and SMEs. They also have a no cost per email option which I don't think the other providers supply.

Hi Zoe,
By all means look at the Jupiter Buyers Guide - but bear in mind that this is an american guide and contains American suppliers. I would recommend looking the e-consultancy guide which contains UK/European suppliers including some of those you have mentioned.
Factors i focused on were:
Ease of use,
Service levels (will you have a dedicated project manager),
Other services within email marketing (acquisition strategies),
Cost,
Having been in your shoes i know you have your work cut out as this is a saturated market so good luck Zoe.

Good afternoon Zoe,
The main strength and weakness of each company will be in the way the sales persons matches your requirements with their service, emphasising the strengths and glossing over the weaknesses!
We, of course, have the best solution!
We've been involved with email campaigns since the early part of the century! Today we combine this with microsite development to produce a solution that allows many more people to access the information via web searches.
In fact some would say we offer online marketing magic!
Go google it and then let's talk in real time about what your overall mission is, I'm sure we can help you find a solution that can be wrapped up in some of your fancy paper and mailed to you the good old fashioned way!
But watch the postal charges... search for Royal Mail Postage Size Guide

I have some clients who have had issues with cheetah mail.. partly about customer service and partly because it is a US company with US servers. Although i am not meening to pick on them.
If you are in the UK i would recommend avoiding US companies as the majority of spam comes from the US and therefore US servers are more likely to be blacklisted (rightly or wrongly). There are also the obvious issues of time zones for customer service and in one case nothing could be sent in "their" downtime so had to go out at 11pm at night our time.. and therefore got seen as night spam.
I have many clients using dotMailer and they all rate it very highly.. easy to use, accessabile for non techies, good WYSIWYG editor etc etc. I think the reporting is partiuclarly good.
As an aside Charity Technology Trust has over 100 charities using it, sending over 1million emails a month and they all seem to love it.

sorry - another thought on this
these companies offer wildly different services and at widly different costs - i tendered to several of them lately and wqas quite shocked at the disparity
So be very sure whtehr you want a full service agency who takes your data and does the whole thing for you - and charges accoringly. Or an ASP system which you can use and manage in-house.

Hi Zoe,
Although I can't speak for all the companies you mention, I have used EmailVision (Campaign Commander) for over a year.
At the time of finding the best company, I also checked out 4 other companies. I then narrowed this down to two and arranged for them to visit me and present.
EmailVision offered me the best solutions and came across as the most easy to work with. Their product was easy to use in terms of email design, databases and reports and the costs were not as high as some of the other quotes offered.
The requirements we requested were delivered in a timely manner and I have found it more than adequate for our purposes. Their support has also been at an excellent standard.
Well recommended.

Richard
