HI Zoe,
As has been previously mentioned there is not a huge difference between email service providers. However it does depend if you are running campaigns for retention (ie your own data) or Acquisiton (ie cold lists). Speaking from being a data owner who uses both external (emailvision) and internal (acxiom) email delivery systems, the key areas that you need to look at are Account Management, ISP relationship management, CPM for delivery of emails & Campaign Reporting.
