Interesting (or controversial) article about 'etailing' this week. The evolving online shopping / ecommerce revolution has apparently reached a stage called Etail 3.0.

This is how Marketing Week defined Etail 3.0:

The first wave of etail was said to involve online retailers undercutting their traditional counterparts. The second involved trying to create "experiences" online rather than just slashing costs. The third is said to see etailers surpassing their high street rivals with enhanced consumer offerings.

who are their rivals? Most of the online retailers are also high street or 'tesco towns' retailers. Are we talking about niche markets here?
