Econsultancy’s Selling Online: a How-to Guide for Small Businesses has been produced specifically with smaller business in mind. This 100+ page document, written by e-commerce consultant Trevor Ginn, contains information about best-practice implementation and management of an online retail website. It is a must-read for any small business serious about establishing itself in the e-commerce environment.
The State of Digital in MENA report, published by Econsultancy (and supported by ArabianBusiness.com), looks in detail at use of different traditional and online marketing channels in the Middle East and North Africa. The report also looks at how companies are using social media for marketing, how businesses are measuring marketing effectiveness and examines the barriers to digital marketing and e-commerce in the region.

We are starting a secondment service for E-commerce managers or online marketing managers for either short or long term contracts. Finding good staff is becoming increasingly difficult and also they can cost if the numbers are not made. We will use our experienced staff to meet agreed targets. The question I have is will this be a service that will be of use. I welcome any comments.

Hi
Isn't this something that IT recruitment agencies already do. I know I've been contacted by agencies in the past for such projects
I am curious to hear more...
Thanks
Kind regards
Deborah

What you say is true, however we are an ecom company and our clients have been telling us that this will be a useful service to offer. We have the expertise inhouse and we will agree with our clients that we make targets. People may approach you from an agency but is that not someone looking for a part time job and will have no commitment to the company no matter how short or long the contract?

Ah, so you mean, your company actually has the staff already as part of the company, rather then hiring in people? Now I see what you mean, so this is like a ecommerce consultancy. That's great. I would be interested to hear about developments with your business, web address etc, as I am an e-business manager and I run an ebusiness consutancy (mostly dealing with the strategy side, but clients often need resources and fulfillment), so you never know my clients could have a need for you or vice versa.

Agree with all comments so far, it's becoming increasingly important to get the right expertise inhouse so getting expertise from outside of your business is often the best way to go ... no-one can't expect any business to have all the relevant expertise inhouse.
If it helps anyone who reads this, we have this little page on helping businesses justify getting someone from outside: http://blackwhite.uk.com/justification.htm
