As expected, Google is testing its own new click to call service....
Meanwhile MIVA in the UK has announced its first pay per call partners - Trinity Mirror, Express Newspapers, Dennis Publishing, InfoSpace.
We also know of a couple of brands currently testing the ROI on pay-per-call / click to call using MIVA... watch this space.

The new pay per call or click to call whichever way you put it from Google looks great... found a wee link that you should try which shows a few screen shots of the system being tested, just in case you havn't seen it in action. As much as i hate to say it... Well done Google!

We had Pay Per Call months ahead of Google in Australia. Also Local search. What's the big deal? Its been here for a long time and now Googles makes it news. This is starting to sound and act like Microsoft, Google that is.

IMHO I think that this is a big deal. PPCall has now been available in the UK since August and although three networks have inventory (MIVA, Touch, Callgen), we are still seeing little to no traffic.
Google, I would foresee to be very different when it launches, in that as well as being a PPC Network, they have the advantages of their own search engine where they can showcase PPCall ads, by far the current problem with all the current providers are that they have a lack of partner sites willing to show their ads, thereby we do not have a big enough case study to give an opinion on the effectiveness of Pay per Call on the industry.
When Google goes live it really has the opportunity to change the paid search industry, the implications of being able to make a phone call from Google is huge, and with Yahoo also beta testing, this is something that seriously needs to be considered when planning a PPC budget.
