Can anyone recommend solutions for managing physical stock control with e-commerce sites? Mostly likely this will involve using an established warehouse stock control system that has a 'web module', enabling up-to-date warehouse stock levels to be fed to the website? Many thanks.
We have been working with Netsuite. It is a pretty comprehensive ERP system with an integrated ecommerce component. It covers the normal things: accounting, stock control, customer relations, and ecommerce. There are no integration issues because it is a single database.
It is sold as 'software as a service' what we old-timers would call a bureau service. This means that the users access the system over the web with a browser.
We have had some success integrating the system with our own custom catalogue features such as product reviews and videos an so on.
Pretty much any warehouse stock control system will have the ability to communicate such information to a website, and if they havn't yet built the module I'd imagine it will be pretty high up their to do list!
I've personally experienced integrating Elucid (from Sanderson) with several websites and found it a reasonably painless process - and a robust solution once it's up and running.
Hope that helps

i do not have a recommandation, however i can tell you what stay away from. it's Icode / Everest. it works brilliantly in store, but any customisation of the website is absolute nightmare, and do not start me on their customer service

Hi Matt, we have a very flexible ecommerce platform called Hyperia Commerce which integrates with many of the popular accounts, ERP, EPOS and stock systems from vendors such as Sage, Kerridge and Microsoft. The advantage of our approach is that it gives you the flexibility to choose the best back-office system to suit your needs and marry this to a completely customisable website.
Thanks for the advice. Most solutions seem to be pretty comprehensive, incorporating full ERP + accounting solutions, which is putting them beyond the budget for the project. Anything that is modular enough at a small scale (3-6 users) to focus on stock control would be more workable. Thanks again for the advice. Matt Budcus

Hi Suggest you have a look at http://www.import2sage.com. This gives you the import from the web site and invoicing and stock is controlled in Sage Line 50.
