you have be ceetain whether you want to have back links for driving traffic or improveing page ranking. The selction of sites inthis respect is importnat. Trouble with most link buying sites is that we don't have much choice, or information to choose from. Let me know if you have found one that provides a good basis for selction.
However having backlinks is not te best way to drive either trffic or improve page ranking. The best way to improve Google ranking is to buy adwords.
Having new, exciting content and the abillity to announce that its exist is proably the best way to drive traffic to one's site. Its not so easy to create such content....its even hard to find good attractive giveaways. Driving traffic organically is difficult.... hence we still need to spend on promotion. We can do this unelss we know the with increasing traffic we will have increasing revenue.
It gets back to the simple question of the business model.. nlot merely links for links, or rating for rating sake..

Thanks for your response.
I currently use Adwords to a great extent. For my main business GoResponse www.goresponse.co.uk, I have a PR of 4 and spend around £2500 per month on Adwords. My new project Ballsup.biz (www.ballsup.biz), I am spending only around £30 per day - but this is a much smaller business - but my first venture into online retailing. I am therefore now trying to dirv traffic to them both directly through relevant back links and then also consequently through higher PR and conversly better organic listings. I think one of my main concerns is ensuring the back links are UK based rather than US to keep the relevance.
