Further to the related thread about "how long to send 42,000 emails"..

I'm looking for a mailing solution that will, cost effectively, allow us to send

    1) all our customer ordering correspondence (we are getting a large amount of undelivered mail - and when this is order confirmations it creates havoc)
    2) marketing email (opt-ins) - probably 500,000-1m a month in HTML.

Currently we're using the solutions built onto our web front ends for the order confirmations, and Vertical Response for the marketing.  VR is proving expensive at over £1,000 per mailshot to our customer base of 250k.

we'll need to be able to prepare the communications away from this tool, and then pass them to the tool to do the sending.  the priority is that the emails arrive, and that we're not paying through the nose.

    Any ideas, solutions?

    Hi Joe,

Not sure what happened to my last post, but…

It sounds like you have an email solution integrated into your ordering system, so I’d suggest looking at why you have poor delivery rates rather than looking at alternatives. Vertical Response are giving you a pretty good rate at £4 CPM. You could find someone cheaper would you see the back of your deliverability issues and get integration?

I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

    Best regards,
    Gavin

Hi,  The service we run is MarketMailer.co.uk and it seems that this development should be relatively straightforward. As I understand it you require the ordering correspondence to be fed to (say ) the MarketMailer back end and those then dispatched as emails in batches. We can certainly dramatically improve the deliverability of those (and the administration of those few that don't succeed). Also we would be able to offer you a better volume price than you currently receive.
Please email me (James@scl.co.uk). I look forward to providing you with a quote and a solution.

We work with a couple of systems... one based on cost per email, the other on the database size... so sending 4 email per month would be signifcantly cheaper.

That's an Impressive portfolio and looks great.  It seems to me that you are at the highend volume-wise so it may be time to consider an inhouse solution. That way you pay one licence fee and never pay monthly email fee's again.  Our solution, Spinnakerpro, gives you the best of both worlds since you can run hosted mode and then switch over to licensed mode whenever you like. You will also get the benefit of improved deliverability (your own IP address for starters) and our Sensorpro solution for online forms and smart autoresponders.  Leading retailers like House of Frasier and Brown Thomas have made the move to Spinnakerpro. Our R&D team is based in Ireland so we can react quickly to any new challenge you might set us.
