I realise we do not qualify as an SME but we have enjoyed a lot of success with a number of our blogs for the the B2B financial sectors. They are very strong vehicles for SEO traffic around specialist topics.
As a MSE our blog has a nice flow of traffic. The blog is our take on what's happening/what's hot in our industry. We are linked to the good blogs, and get some traffic, but most traffic comes from search engines in reality. blog.iconcertina.com
We do our own B2B blog and get really good response from it (much of it offline).
We also do blogs for and with clients and, again, find it delivers value for supporting the sales process and helping with thought leadership more than for overt lead generation (so far).
Ours is:

Some client ones:
http://www.vnl.in/blog/
http://www.brightgreentechnology.com/blog/ (not very active yet)
Thanks for the responses. It's weird because I really cannot find an example of a UK based SME that has a blog and is getting value from it. I mean surely they must exist?
