I'm currently reviewing a research study on the dynamics behind communities. This was first started in 1992 with a research grant. In 1998 I spent another two years mapping out how the same communities were developing. Of the 40 groups, 28 were USENET.
Does anyone have suggestions for groups that could be included under the following classifications:
Unmoderated
Moderated
Self moderating
Within these classifications I'm keen to identify new COPS (Communities of Practice) within a business setting (intranet, extranet, internet) and public interest groups. Suggestions would be very welcome.

Philip,
You should join the E-mint mailing list and ask over 400 online community professionals.
