    Hi All

Our incoming link count has dropped over the last few months by about 60-70% and we do not know why.

can you please help and look at Lead Generation Services and let us know if we have done something wrong and how we can get the links back or get good new ones that will not vanish.

surely you have been keeping a log then of the sites linking to you?
you must be able to audit these links at random to work out why they have dissappeared?

Out of interest, why are you concerned about those links? Is it for direct traffic (has your traffic tailed off too?) or is it to help your own search rankings?

You probably know that Google isn't very good for showing inbound links - the syntax would be http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=link:http://www.bizal.com/&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-07,GGLJ:en&start=40&sa=N and that only shows 68 inbound links including your own site.

Yahoo! is much better for showing inbound links - see http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.bizal.com%2F+-site%3Awww.bizal.com&ei=UTF-8&fr=FP-tab-web-t&x=wrt - there are 1,400 shown there.

The reason I asked whether you are concerned about dropping numbers of links for SEO reasons is that many/most of the links I can see you have look to be pretty low grade to say the least. Links like http://www.addyoursitefreesubmit.com/business/advertising_and_marketing/general/289/page2/

Those links won't do anything for your search rankings anyway. They might even harm them.

    Hi David,

Maybe a clear value proposition statement on your page would be in order! What do I get for my money and will you do success fee payment option? There seems to be no call to action in your wording either!

Now also keep in mind that "the last few months" include December and January, where companies are not known for strongly pursue new projects.

    I think you misunderstand.

We have no problem with how the site coverts visitors to sales leads and the call to action is fine. W also have tested this and lots of people have told us it is very strong which agrees with our web stats.

It is the number of links to our site that have dropped by over 60% and we do not know why.

PS we tend to work with companies that see sales as an investment and hence price is never an issue!

    Hi,

Its difficult to say why your links have dropped off without knowing how many links you had in the first place. The number of link data shown on search engines is debatable, only Yahoo! seems to get in the correct region:

    link:http://www.bizal.com returned 1490
    linkdomain:www.bizal.com returned 1530
    linkdomain:bizal.com returned 1540

This doesnt look to bad to me, however checking a very unreliable google link command, I found:

    link:http://www.bizal.com returned 38

Is this what you are seeing??

I wouldnt be too concerned if this is the only impact, Google will know exactly how many links you have, but this data has been variable since the start of the year, possibly a knock on effect of their BigDaddy roll out.
However, Id be more concerned if traffic has stopped coming to your site from other sites you had links with, unfortunately there isnt much more you can do about this apart from investigating where you used to get traffic from and checking those sites!

I dont want to be condersending as you may be well aware of all this to start with! Were the sites you used to get traffic from directories which put newer member links above older member links?

Anyway, there are always a lot of points of investigation...
Let me know how many links you are expecting as Im interested!

    thanks for your reply

it was showing between 3100 -3250 Page rank 5

No more links seem to have gone in the last week though since posting on here.

As for traffic, it only gives me the top 25 results ( deep matrix ) so that unfortunately does not help.

If we can not find out why this has happened

1: has anyone else had this problem
    2: could it happen again!!!!!!
3: What is the best way to get more quickly

( we have noticed that our primary key phrase has also dropped in the google rankings ( lead generation services)
