Editorial manager role at Online Content UK - ref: OCUKEDMAN
Online Content UK, the network for content professionals, is looking for an editorial manager to join our team. The role requires a mix of skills as you'll be working across both our community and commercial editorial services and the role is not just writing, editing and commissioning.
OCUK, a successful and growing small company based in Hertfordshire, is a membership-based organisation for content professionals and an editorial services agency. The community offers members free and low-cost industry events and networking opportunities, online discussion forums and a range of other benefits. OCUK's editorial services include content consulting and editorial project management for outsourced client projects, plus resourcing services providing talented editorial professionals to a range of corporates, government and public sector clients.
The role of editorial manager:
* may be full time or part time
* will be home-based plus travel for meetings and events (usually London, but may be elsewhere)
* will run for three months initially with a view to permanent after that
Role:
Working with OCUK is exciting and varied, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on a wide range of tasks and mucking in when required. You will have the opportunity to make this newly created role your own, and become centrally involved in the company. Please note that this is not a pure editorial role - if you're looking for something that involves only writing and editing, this isn't for you.
In the role of editorial manager you will take responsibility for certain projects, processes and tasks, and assist in other areas including:
* research, contact and meet with prospective clients for our commercial editorial services
* help prepare tender documents and pitches
* manage client resourcing requirements and help maintain client relationships
* manage freelance/candidate resourcing including reviewing CVs and interviewing
* attract sponsors and advertisers for OCUK's community, events and magazine
* write and manage content for our soon-to-launch new website, newsletters and magazine
* create and manage OCUK events including sourcing topics, speakers and venues and hosting event evenings
* assist with PR and marketing including tradeshows
* help manage interns and freelancers on editorial, web and event projects
You:
We want to hear from you if you're excited about working in a small team and are passionate about the content, media, new media and publishing industries. We want to hear from you if you have:
* an editorial background with good writing and editing skills
* experience commissioning content
* experience managing content and content projects
* experience managing others, particularly freelancers and remote workers
* excellent time management skills
* experience attracting sponsors, advertisers and clients
* excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with a range of people, through writing, phone and face-to-face
* confidence and the ability to express yourself well
* good PC skills, are very familiar with using the internet as a communication and research tool
* a high-level of experience with email and the ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly
* an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyment of a challenge
* the ability to work under direction but able use your own initiative
