I thought it might be useful to people looking online for project management resources to hear about the sites that I have used for information and resources in the past.

Below (roughly in order of quality) are some of those sites:

    The Project Management Forum
    http://www.pmforum.org/
This is a good resource site for project management, including a good library, a “Project Management Calendar, the world's most complete list of project management conferences, events and meetings around the world” as well as other useful resources. There is also a Directory of Generally Accepted Project Management Practices at http://www.pmforum.org/prof/gapmp.htm

    ALLPM.COM
    http://www.allpm.com/
This site bills itself as "the internet's premier site for Information Technology (IT) project management information and resources." It does indeed boast a fairly impressive amount of content and functionality: reasonably well populated discussion forums, newsletters and other resources such as a book store, links to useful articles and details on project management products and services on the market.

    Project Management Institute
    http://www.pmi.org/
“PMI is recognized worldwide as the primary source of knowledge and wisdom in the field of project and program management.” If you're not a member this site isn't that great but there are some useful resources and it's worth looking at the Informations Systems Special Interest Group sub site which is at http://www.pmi-issig.org/ as this is most relevant to e-business project management.

    The Project Management WWW Site
    http://www.projectmanagement.com/
Quite good for software tools and resources.

    Novient WebProject site
    http://www.wproj.com/index.html
A site mostly about the company’s virtual project management software but there is also a discussion forum on virtual project management.

http://www.vrtprj.com springs to mind, particularly in the context of the adjacent thread above.

Good online PM resources I use include:

www.gantthead.com - US-centric project management portal with weekly articles on IT project management. Includes an active forum on various project management issues (although the forum interface isn't as sweet as E-consultancy's) Full Disclosure: I regularily contribute articles to this site.

www.projectzone.com - interesting collection of various project management related articles from other sites like fastcompany.com, etc..

    cheers, geoff

Those interested in PM may also be keen to know about the Association for Project Management. It's a UK based organisation (with International links) with emphasis as much on the practical as theoretical/academic.

Info can be found @ http://www.apm.org.uk/
