The State of Search Marketing Report 2011, published by Econsultancy in association with SEMPO, looks in-depth at how companies are using paid search, search engine optimization (natural search) and social media marketing. The report, which also contains a marketplace valuation, has been compiled from a survey of more than 900 global respondents, from both companies (client-side advertisers) and agencies. The report looks closely at current practices and emerging trends across paid search and SEO, alongside their relationship with social media.

Hi there,
We're currently looking into a new search engine marketing measurement solution for our clients, covering both natural and pay per click search and we're wondering what people here consider to be the most important elements of such a solution. Obviously clickthroughs, roi and conversion statistics, but what other features would be desirable or on your wish list if you were looking for such a solution?
Also if you're using such a solution what are the pros and cons?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Andrew Allfrey.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for your advice. We already use Google Analytics however ... we managed to sign up right at the beginning. We're looking for a more search specific package however rather than just a web analytics package that does everything including washing the dishes!!
Thanks anyway!

in that case its worth mentioning that some of the WA vendors offer bid mangement tool for PPC. Websidestory, Omniture and Coremetrics spring to mind as offering this service with integrated ROI and Search tracking
Webtrends also features pretty cool Seartch ranking tools
none of the above are cheap

We use (and recommend) IndexTools.com. It's great on search and PPC tracking, and keeps getting better.

Hi,
For the last 2 years we have been using StatLynx from a company called TraceWorks. StatLynx is a so-called Marketing Intelligent Tool. The tool is quite user-friendly and easy to setup and not as complex as WebTrends.
This is what the company say about the tool:
StatLynx 3.0 can differentiate between all types of traffic, whether originating from search engines, banner and email advertising, website links, or direct traffic. Users can see exactly when, where and how visitors reached their site and at what point visitors became customers. Not only does StatLynx 3.0 show exactly where online business originated, but it also calculates your marketing costs, income and return on investment (ROI).
Have a good day.

Hi - I've found click tracks to be the best analytics software I've used to date. It provides a unique approach to web analytics, which is quite impressive. Check their site out as it has detailed information with video files etc.
