Registrar: GX Networks Ltd t/a 123-Reg.co.uk [Tag = 123-REG] URL: http://www.123-reg.co.uktry 123-Reg, they certainly host your domain and if the webspace is not hosted there you'll be able to find out to whose server the domain is currently pointing (DNS entry).

    hi, Sally,

you should try calling Anthony Mellor at embryonex ( +44.1462 434 434 ). It looks like they own your name server. If they don't host you they should at least be able to tell you who does

    Here's what I did:

    1. go to www.nic.uk & do a whois on glut.co.uk
    2. you will see the name servers are listed as 'ns1.envoy-hosting.com' ...
    3. go to a .com whois tool (eg. www.whois.net). look up 'envoy-hosting.com'
    4. you'll see it's owned by embryonex
    5. visit www.embryonex.com

    Hope that's useful

Having done a quick trace on your domain name it shows that your hosting is almost certainly managed by Embryonex, but they're actually hosting your site on a Donhost (www.donhost.co.uk) Dedicated Server.

But as previously suggested by Daniel, as the server will be managed by Embryonex, it's best to start there. However, your web developers Osmodus are probably Embroynex's client and not you, so they may not help you directly and instead point you back to Osmodus.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    Richard

    Hi Sally

It looks like you have had your question already answered, but for future reference there are 2 things to consider.

    1. Who owns / controls your DNS - which is the domain name for your company. Typically when you register your domain you will use an ISP's Domain Name Servers and they will in turn point the domain to your website which may or may not be on their servers. Hence it is imperative you know who controls your DNS, but it does not necessarily tell you who hosts your website. To find out who owns the domain you can use one of the many services out there - I would recommend http://www.whois.net/. You will see who "owns" the domain which should hopefully be yourself, and below that you should see something like:

    Domain servers in listed order:
    - HERCULES.LEMONFOUNDATION.COM 81.29.77.236
    - DC1.LEMONFOUNDATION.COM 88.211.98.66

The domain servers listed are the name servers which are effectively resolving all DNS queries and as such control where your website is hosted from when someone types in your domain name.

    2. To determine where your site is physically hosted I would recommend the use of Netcraft (http://news.netcraft.com/)
As an example, I used Netcraft by filling in my site URL (www.lemondigital.com) into the "What's that site running?" box and got the following correct result: "Netblock owner: Dedicated Servers".

    Hopefully that will help.
