Just noticed today the atom button in my gmail inbox. If you click on this it gives you the RSS feed for your new emails. So, not only can you check your favorite news sources with an RSS reader, you can also check for new emails. Could this lead to your RSS reader being the main interface, your own personal portal for the net?

On the other hand I am using the excellent NewGator plug-in for Outlook that makes RSS feeds look a little like ..... well ... mails.

I have just started Gmail to check, and can I see an Atom button... nope. Perhaps it was there only temporarily.

Just checked myself, and it has disappeared for me too. It was definitely there yesterday as I clicked on it and saw the xml which contained excerpts of my unread mail.
