    Hi,

Last Friday afternoon, I realised that my Yahoo account had been hacked into and immediately contacted Yahoo as the 'regenerate password' feature stopped working, apparently after the hacked changed some of my information.

I have received a response from Yahoo this morning telling me that my information doesn't match what they have and to try again.  This is very frustrating and I'm not sure what else to do other than continuing to email them (which I have) - Having read posts on this forum and others about how little support they received from Yahoo customer services, I'm not holding out much hope.

My main concern is that I used the account as my primary email and it was linked to several other sites (I have changed passwords on all as a precaution but it appears my ebay account has also been hacked into).  I'm not entirely sure what else they may have access to, but it is feasible that there is other sensitive information on that account.

If anybody from Yahoo uses this forum, could I please urge you to contact me as soon as possible, as I am not getting anywhere with the customer help desk.

Should any other users have any useful suggestions, these will be appreciatively received.

    Many Thanks.

    David

An update -> Ebay have resolved my account issue there, I'm still waiting on Yahoo though who have not responded since their initial email to tell me that my initial information was wrong.

A welcome reminder of the dangers.  I am sure you already do this, but for other readers of this forum, have different usernames and passwords for all your online logins... and remember to log out of each one as soon as you can, and especially before visiting unknown websites or logging into another.

In the future you might want to forward email to more than one account so that you have a backup system, and record.

Security awareness should be part of every online presence - accidents happen, but if we can all guide our users to help protect themselves, we all benefit.

    Good luck with Yahoo.
