Hi Ashley - so we're a year on from this thread and little seems to have changed. B2B is still primarily seen as an "and we do B2B" for a lot of search agencies. Base One are probably the best known dedicated B2b search agency but there have been staff changes, so we'll see what happens there. Verve Search are very new but forging a reputation ... jury is out for now. But I have to say that excellent dedicated B2B search agencies are darned thin on the ground.

I work with clients in the UK to help them define their digital agency need, indentify suitable matches and then appoint with a view to a long term relationship. I've been working with two B2B clients this year (both big companies with budgets that put them in the top 10% of SEO fee spenders) and I've resorted in both cases to working with search agencies that excel at both B2B and B2C - and who have demonstrable and unarguable experience and results in B2B.

But every time I get a B2B brief (and as an ex-agency man myself) it strikes me that there is a huge gap in the market that someone must fill soon. Nature, as we know, abhors a vacuum.

Thanks for raising this issue Ashley - and by the way, if you run a proven B2B search specialist, please feel free to get in touch with me. I'd love to hear from you.

    Hi Andy

Your're right, not that much has changed. I come across B2B agencies that are good for things other than search (indeed we use a B2B agency called Velocity who are great for many things).

Two others we have vague dealings with worth a mention in this context: The Digital Partnership and CPUK Communication Partners. Though too early to say much about them from our limited experience.

Interesting you mention Velocity Partners. I had a great chat with Stan Woods - the MD - today. Intelligent and challenging approach and without doubt a B2B specialist. They're on a long-shot list (if there is such a thing) for a tech client. Will report back in due course.

    Hi Andy

The only reason I wouldn't recommend Velocity any higher is that I don't want them getting so busy that they no longer have time for us... ;)
