I'm currently looking for a social networking solution. Having looked around the market place, it seems that the best way of delivering this may be to find an agency to help with the ongoing strategy and also to assist with finding the best technical solution to match our requirements. Has anyone else found that to be the best option?
If so, can anyone recommend any agencies who have experience setting up public-facing communities and providing guidance on strategy and engagement? Ideal would be an agency with experience of a number of different solutions. Looking at having different levels of access, hosting of video (not YouTube), ability to link to events' plug-in (ticket purchases), need to own our data and get reporting etc.
Any ideas are welcomed!

There are a couple of social networking platforms I've come across but they're not so great if you want customised functionality. I tink I'll agree with you in that the best route is to work with an agency who can create exactly what you want and will help you develop the idea along the way. With that in mind, I would like to recommend ourselves. I'd be certainly happy to have a chat with you and then simply take things from there.
regards,
Denis

I'm running a service delivery business here in Western France. I've chosen the obvious well known public social networks, partly because I think they have the largest memebership, partly because with a longer term strategy in mind I accept that some current young users will grow and mature into customers and I will then be an established part of the fabric.
In terms of the content approach I've been fairly broad, details about the business and me are open as I am working in peoples homes and so trust is important. I have to consider I also want people to find me by accident and so I try to tag efficiently to increase the hit rate. Content quality and variety are important, too much and people lose the message, too little and it's not even a disguise simply an advert they recognise and move on from. Too little they forget you, too much they discard you.
I'm not yet satisfied with what I have in place, but that is partly because as a new organisation I have few reviews and customer links in place.
