Has anybody come across any form of tag management solution other than Tagman? I am aware of the Tagman system and what it can do, but would also be keen to understand if there are any alternative solutions out there? We operate a large number of websites and are often frustrated with the length of time it takes us to resolve issues relating to tags, so being able to access tags onsite quickly and easily without heavily involving I.T. is desirable. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I'm having a similar issue. The 4 I have come across are:

    Ubertags

    http://ubertags.com/

    - Doesn't look enterprisey enough for our needs but seems to be pretty.

    Tealium

    http://www.tealium.com

    -  Seems to be more of a consultancy based solution

    Ensighten

    http://ensighten.com

    - I like this solution as an alternative to TagMan. Has a number of nice USP's.

    and of course Tagman.

Are there any more out there?

We're looking into Tealium. Thier console looks pretty straightforward.

There is actually quite a wide range of Tagging solutions on the market with the llikes of Ensighten, SiteTagger and Tagman the larger companies in the UK but a whole range (SuperTag, BrightTag, UberTag, Tealium, DC Storm, Mediaplex) all offering their services in the US.

There is also the recently released QuBit OpenTag (which is even free for smaller websites) which may be worth considering.

Ultimately it depends what you're trying to use it for as they all have their advantages and disadvantages (depending on how you need tags to load, what variables you need to capture from the website and whether you need the tags to fire conditionally).

That said, unless server access is really restricted, I would always advocate using your own server side solution to conditionally serve tags as required as none of these solutions is flawless...

We've also launched a tag management platform which we're getting some good feedback on, have a look at http://supertag.datalicious.com/ for more information. Compared to the other vendors this one was born out of an actual web analytics agency - Datalicious - so I think we have a few bells and whistles that others have missed thanks to our hands on experience but I have to say that :)

You might want to check a powerful solution from Europe named Tag Commander, with strong references in gaming, dating and ecommerce industry.
