Does anyone have any experience of using Keyword Spy or Word Butler - specifically in the UK?
I'm looking to build long-tail lists from existing keywords (currently using Word Tracker). Several comments I've read on a couple of SEO forums seem to conflict in their opinions.

Balrick,
The Google Adwords Keyword Tool is probably the most effective for 'overall' keyword research. Due to the volume of traffic on Google, the keyword tool offers good insights into popular searches and keywords, as well as potential negative keywords which can be factored in to any PPC activity.
Other tools such as Word Tracker/Trellion/Good Keywords etc all have there uses so are worth a look but the Adwords Keyword Tool, common sense and some market research will normally prevail.
Keyword Spy is quite insightful but I would question the accuracy of the data it displays, so use with caution.
As mentioned in a previous post, Analytics is also an incredibly useful tool for identifying additional keywords. Data mining is crucial to ensure continual campaign performance.

Hi there at the isk of stating the obvious, have you done all the offline things like keyword picking key words from all your brochures, going through your competitors brochures etc and then doing all the things like broad matching and google suggestions. That way you should cover all bases. Dont forget also that you should have a look at phrases as well, talking to your customer support people or call centre personnel are a free way of getting the sorts of things your customers ask your company.
Sorry if you have done all this, but often they are overlooked.
