I'm looking for a bit of advice as to what web analytics firms people would recommend using, other than Double Click. Ideally we are looking for a company that can give us the option of doing all the set up and reporting themselves, or training us internally so we can set it up and report on it ourselves.

Hi Sara,
it depends on the features you need, such as web access, and the price range you're looking at.
There are a couple of solutions I could recommend but I think it may be faster to just have a chat over the phone (07712 255 379) where you can explain to me exactly what you're looking for, and I will try to see if I can help.
..and no, I am not selling analytics! Just want to help.
Hi thanks for getting back to me - I'l give you a call in the morning and we can have a wee chat if that's ok?
thanks

as Dennis said, it largely depends on the features you need and budget you have to play with. There is quite a diverse range, from Google Analytics (FOC) up to Webtrend and Omniture (who recently acquired HBX) at the high end of the market. A mid end solution is Click Tracks which I am shortlisting for my company. http://www.clicktracks.com/ for details.
I work for a company called Nedstat (we do sell analytics!). Hopefully we will feature on Denis's list of recommendations. Nedstat offers a full service package including implementation and training. Take a look at the website (www.nedstat.co.uk) and if you would like to call me, we can talk through your needs and see how we can best achieve your objectives (02078411544).
Have you looked at the e-consultancy web analytics buyers guide which is available on this site? It lists all the main companies that are active in the market.
It's also a shame you missed e-consultancy's Web Analytics Supplier Showcase last week!
If you contact me I'd be happy to send you a copy of the presentation we gave at that event and talk through your goals and requirements.
Hi everyone, thanks for all your help. My obvious lack of experience has shown itself in my slight misuse of terminology! I have since learnt that what i really meant, rather than web analytics, was ad serving and tracking technology -which we could use to track how our online advertising campaigns are performing
thanks

I am the MD of a company called Facilitate Digital www.facilitatedigital.com that offers ad-serving as well as website analytics, so we can help on both fronts. :) Our strenghth is tracking campaigns across all channels and integrating this with our website analytics suite, so you have a comprehensive picture of what is happening with your campaign spend, integrated with the return you are generating from you site. Please drop me an email or give me a bell if you are interested in discussing further. Cheers, Julian 07900 917 543

We've used OpenX - www.openx.org (was OpenAds, was something else before that) for a few years on the sites that we sell advertising on. It's an open source, PHP based ad server. It supports some fairly sophisticated functionality (geo tracking, Flash banners etc) by default and it can allow customers to manage their own campaigns if necessary.
Their blurb is 'The free, open source ad server trusted by more than 30,000 web publishers in over 100 countries around the world. OpenX is a powerful ad serving solution that puts control over online advertising back in the hands of publishers.'
