General Remit

To manage and run planning and buying activity from start to finish on behalf of our existing clients and new business wins. To handle client relationships and face to face meetings where necessary, and the relationship between client services and delivery teams, and to understand how media planning fits into the overall marketing mix.

Main responsibilities

Reporting

  • Providing a longer term context on results, and explaining how they fit into a client's overall business & the sector's seasonality.
  • Proactively investigating PPC, SEO and offline results where possible to provide a wider context to data and trends.
  • Setting up or assisting with quarterly/6 monthly/annual reviews with clients to enable a full understanding & context on planning for the future.

Trafficking

  • To be able to traffic all types of display ads on Atlas/Dart/TZ (whichever ad server is necessary)
  • To be able to setup and test a new client, campaign, media placement, together with tracking tags where necessary.
  • To identify tracking mechanisms needed for a new campaign, and inform/provide the client as necessary.

Planning and Buying

  • Ability to negotiate larger scale deals with media owners looking for additional value
  • Negotiating with media owners based on comparative results, gaining benefits from mistakes made, and pushing hard for CPA based deals where possible.
  • Sharing media industry learnings with the team and clients, and making observations/ recommendations where relevant.
  • Understanding the relationship between PPC, SEO, affiliate and display, and being able to confidently discuss with clients.

Industry knowledge

  • Presenting performance reviews in appropriate format (excel, ppt etc).
  • Assessing which tools and industry data would be relevant and worthwhile to subscribe to
  • Collating media owner and client contact data in a communal place where other team members can find and understand it.
  • Reviewing new ideas and opportunities within the industry and providing summaries to go in to client presentations and our email newsletters to clients

Tools and systems

  • Working knowledge of all internal tools for ad serving, planning, research, reporting
  • Ability to check one system against the other and investigate any differences.

Account and Campaign Management

  • Ability to effectively and confidently communicate with everyday client contacts and those at a higher level/ in other roles across the organisation.
  • Ability to sell in new ideas with clear rationale and justification on a results basis, to various functions including marketing, sales, finance etc.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients
  • Managing the running of the campaigns including the below:
  • Ensuring all placements are live and tracking is working
  • Reporting on campaign performance
  • Optimisation / compensation
  • Delivery reconciliation

    Team Development

    • Ability to delegate jobs and projects clearly and efficiently to junior members of the team and ensure they are delivered on time
    • The ability to decide which areas of training team members would benefit from.

    Internal relations

    • The ability to liaise with other departments internally to the benefit of existing clients
    • Ability to manage monthly reconciliation and financing of clients – understanding the terms of our business
    • Ability to liaise with finance over discrepancies, late payments, inconsistent invoices etc.
    • The ability to effectively communicate with those above and below.
    • To understand the workings of other departments within Steak including PPC and SEO

    External relations

    • Meeting with media owners on a regular basis.
    • Building relationships with other suppliers (ad serving, research etc), where this will help in the execution of your role.
    • Sharing of information gleaned from external sources, that will help other members of the team.
    • The ability to clearly brief media owners on campaigns and manage the return of information

    Accountability

    • To communicate budgeting and financial trends to client services/ management, drawing attention to concerns around budgets dropping or issue that will affect the financial growth of the account.
    • To be responsible for full delivery of and financial reconciliation of financial targets and client budgets
